A Scary Good Treat
From haunted houses, to horror movies, to even chilling costumes, October is sure to be filled with many festive things. However, the most petrifying thing about the month is the idea of showing up to a Halloween party empty-handed. With these delicious oreo spider pops, the only thing you’ll have to worry about is finding a costume. Here’s how to make them.
The Ingredients & Supplies
Either from your local grocery store, or your pantry at home, here’s a list of ingredients and baking supplies you will need:
- 1 Baking sheet
- A trusty piece of parchment paper
- Lollipop sticks
- 1 Spoon
- One pack of Oreo cookies (your choice of flavor)
- Edible candy eyeballs
- Black licorice
The Instructions
Now for the most essential first step: washing your hands. To make sure no unwanted germs get into your delicious spider pops and ruin your perfect creation, spend two minutes scrub-a-dub-dubbing those hands of yours.
To start, line your large baking tray with a sheet of parchment paper and set it aside. Grab your favorite Oreo flavor and gently begin twisting each cookie apart, going slow to avoid damaging the cookies.
Take your prefered chocolate flavor and melt it on the stove top using the double boil method, or you can melt the chocolate in your microwave, whichever you prefer.
After your chocolate is done melting, dip one end of the lollipop stick into the chocolate and place it halfway into the Oreo side that has the creme. Cut the licorice laces into even pieces, about an inch long each, and place four strips on each side of the creme side Oreo. For clarification that’s four on the left side and four on the right side.
Take the other bare half of the Oreo and gently place it on top of the creme side. Softly press down and hold. Make sure before you continue that the lollipop stick and licorice pieces are secured in place.
Once the chocolate has hardened, spoon the melted chocolate over the completed Oreo. Make sure to get as little chocolate on the licorice as possible. Place two edible candy eyeballs towards the bottom of the Oreo onto the still melted chocolate. Let the chocolate sit and harden for about thirty minutes, or however long your chocolate may take.
Congratulations
After completing all of these easy steps a spider pop should be in your presence. Whether to share with others, or eat them all by yourself is up to you. Happy baking and happy Halloween!
