Junior Tommy Watson provides an insight into his life and activities.

Q: What do you do at school?

A: I run cross country and track, and I’m in NHS and I’m in Mu Alpha Theta.

Q: How do all these things impact your life?

A: Well, Mu Alpha Theta and NHS, it makes me feel like I’m giving back to the community and helping out others, and running is more for my enjoyment; I do it because I like it and it’s a lot of fun and the people are really cool.

Q: So you want to give back to others? Are you interested in community service in general?

A: Yes, that’s why I’m in NHS.

Q: Do you want to pursue that?

A: I mean, I’m not sure I would take that as a job interest, but I go to church a lot.

Q: Do you have any kind of role in your church?

A: Well, this weekend I went to my church and I handed out the documents.

Q: Is there anything you’re excited about right now?

A: School’s almost over, so I’m happy about that. I’m looking forward to next track season.

Q: What do ya’ll do next track season?

A: I run mile and 800 and hundred mile, so.

Q: Give me a run-through: A day in the life of Tommy.

A: Oh, goodness. I wake up at six a.m., and then I get dressed for running, and then I get to school at six-thirty. I run from six-thirty to seven-thirty and then I shower and then I go to second period, which is precal, and I take precal, and then I go to Earth and Space science, and then I go to US History AP, and then I go to lunch. And then physics, and then computer science, and then English. And then I get home and I usually take a nap, get some homework, get some food, and go to bed.

Q: What are your interests other than school activities?

A: Well, I really like math, I like coins, I like gemstones. I like engineering sort of stuff. I like to build stuff.

Q: Are you a collector?

A: I don’t know if I would say ”collector”, but my grandpa was into it, so I’ve sort of come into it.

Q: What do you want to do for a career?

A: I want to be a computer engineer or a petroleum engineer or something in the math related engineering. Computers.

Q: Where do u want to go to college?

A: UT. That’s where I’d like to go.

Q: Austin?

A: At Austin, yeah. Unless I can get into an Ivy League school, but, I don’t know. My main focus is UT.

Q: What’s your family like?

A: Well, right now at my house, my mom, dad, my brother, he’s out of college, but he’s petroleum engineering but he still lives with us but he has a job. My grandma lives with us.
