Cypress-Fairbanks ISD has introduced an opportunity for incoming freshmen to become a part of the brand new freshman cheer squad. Starting in the 2020-2021 school year, Cy-Creek’s new coach is none other than Cheryl McGarrah.
“My daughter does cheer and would be around the age of the freshmen on my team,” McGarrah said. “I feel like that really drew me to want to be the coach.”
Going to the middle schools around the same time as JV and Varsity tryouts in March, coaches scouted out the new stars for the squad. Although there is no class period for the freshman cheer squad, they still practice with the other teams after school, giving them the experience and skills they need to continue their cheer career throughout highschool. For this year, the squad cheers at various freshman games, including football, volleyball, and basketball. This team definitely offers every person at Creek the great opportunity to show school spirit.
