Creek welcomed a number of new students and staff to campus this school year, including 1,020 freshmen, a new principal, and even a new police officer.
“This is my first time ever being in the position of a school resource officer,” Officer Raymond Garivey said.
Garivey joins Creekwith eight years of law enforcement experience and says that Creek is a change, but he’s enjoyed meeting all the different kinds of people from different walks of life. Of course, bringing many different people from many different backgrounds together in one school can also present its own challenges.
“The chance or opportunity for those types of fights to occur rises every day,” Garivey said. “It’s had its challenges and its ups and downs so far, but being able to meet people has been my favorite part of the job.”
Freshman cheerleader Madison Uwadia has enjoyed her transition to Creek.
“I like how spirited the school is and how even when we lose, we still have spirit,” Uwadia said. “I’ve participated in every spirit day because of cheer. I love performing in the spirit rallies because everyone is watching and cheering for us.”
Uwadia said she also enjoys the people and teachers and how relaxed everyone is.
“All my teachers are really cool, and they’re super nice to me,” Uwadia said.
