Wrestling team to compete at Tiger Classic Jan. 21
Cy Creek will attend the Tiger Classic wrestling competition Jan. 21 at Klein Collins High School.
“We have several wrestlers that are really good in their weight class and have been doing good in their previous tournaments,” wrestling assistant coach Jacob Romig said.
Romig is looking forward to a good year with Cy Creek’s wrestlers, as are many of the student athletes on the team.
“The mentality of wrestling is so hard since you are fighting and you fight by yourself and your team cannot go out and help, so it takes a lot of mental strength,” sophomore wrestler Chamille Bryson said. “We are all super hard workers and very determined people. It is definitely a hard sport to be in, so I have a lot of respect for everyone on the team.”
The team also recently competed at the Chicken Wing Invitational at Westside High School on Jan. 12. At the competition, junior Kevin McAleavey placed first, sophomore Aden Sheikh placed second, sophomore Travis Rosa placed fourth, junior Nehemiah Hayes placed fourth, and junior Alejandro Hernandez placed sixth, according to a tweet by the Cy Creek wrestling team.
