The Cy Creek boys and girls golf team has done so much in their competitions and are sad that it is over, but they know they will do just as well next season.
Sophomore Jesus Garcia is part of the JV team and is glad that he joined and “loves golf.”
Garcia plans to play golf in college. Garcia’s biggest motivation when playing golf is his dad, and some advice he would give is:
“Don’t stress about it, because you’ll hit a bad shot like nine out of ten times and there’s that one good shot,” Garcia said.
Sophomore Joshua O’Donnell has been playing golf for most of his life thanks to his dad as well, and he plans to harness his skills here at Creek.
According to O’Donnell, the joy and escape that golf provides is what keeps his spirits up.
“It’s fun and it’s an easy way to get out of school,” O’Donnell said.
Some advice O’Donnell would give to a beginner is:
“Play with a clear mind, it’s a very mentally abusive sport so you just gotta take it slow,” O’Donnell said.
According to Sophomore Gabrielle Hammons, everyone had a tremendous season this year. With her head held high, there are many things that Hammons appreciates about the sport.
“Knowing that I get to go outside everyday and see the sunset, my teammates and meeting new people [is why I love golf],” Hammons said.
